Statistical Consulting
The statistical consulting service is aimed at employees of TU Clausthal, especially doctoral candidates of the university.
Research projects in all disciplines oftentimes require solid statistical methodology, both in planning and implementation as well as in the subsequent analysis and interpretation of the data. Accordingly, it is often advisable to seek advice from a statistician at an early stage of the research endeavour.
Please note:
- You can find the registration form further down below.
- The consultation is free of charge.
- Ideally, you should take advantage of a consultation during the planning phase of your work. Especially if data is to be collected, a prior sample size calculation, for example, can help to achieve a meaningful result.
- The use of counselling in the context of a dissertation should be discussed with the supervisor.
- Our offer includes methodological-statistical consultation, which may include planning and implementation of the research endeavour as well as evaluation and interpretation of the results. The implementation of an evaluation strategy by the responsible consultants is not possible within the scope of a simple consultation. However, further cooperation may of course be established if mutual interest exists.
- If we make a substantial contribution and the collaboration results in a publication, the consultant should be named as a co-author. In this case, the work must be made available to the consultant involved in advance of publication or submission.
- Basic knowledge of statistics is required in order to maximise the benefits of the consultation. You can acquire this, for example, by attending the courses (Engineering) Statistics I + II.
- Please be mindful of data privacy concerns. You should never send us unsolicited data.
